Belarusian new-car market dives 64 percent in 2022
February 21, BPN. The Belarusian new-car market fell by 64 percent year on year in 2022, the chairman of the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA), Siarhiej Varyvoda, told a press conference on February 21.
According to the BAA, this level of sales was last recorded in 2012.
“The market of cars sold in Belarus shrunk by 64 percent. I would like to point out that it contracted by 59 percent in Russia. At the same time, 1,600 new cars per 1,000 people were sold in Belarus, while 4,300 were sold in Russia,” Varyvoda said.
Dealers sold 14,843 cars last year, he specified.
Varyvoda added that average monthly dealer sales stood at some 700 cars, except for Q1, when sales are usually higher. “The last time we recorded this monthly average was in 2005,” he said.
