Opposition politician holds closed-door meetings in New York City

February 22, BPN. The opposition cabinet reports that its law and order secretary Alaksandr Azaraŭ had a number of closed-door meetings during his visit to New York City.

“At the meetings, Alaksandr Azaraŭ formulated requests to his American counterparts to assist his office in its main activity areas, and discussed bilateral cooperation,” the cabinet wrote on Telegram.

On February 2, it said that its members Pavieł Łatuška, Valer Sachaščyk and Alaksandr Azaraŭ discussed further sanctions against Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime with Robin Dunnigan, deputy assistant secretary at the US Department of State.

The meeting also focused on “assistance to Belarusians in their struggle for the restoration of the rule of law and democratic change in Belarus.”
