Łukašenka takes swipe at Tallinn in Independence Day message
February 24, BPN. The “unjustified aggressive rhetoric of the official Tallinn is absolutely uncharacteristic of the friendly Estonian people,” Alaksandr Łukašenka said in his message to the Estonians on Independence Day.
“I am convinced that temporary artificial contradictions will not be able to break the traditionally good Belarusian-Estonian human relations,” Łukašenka’s press office quoted him as saying.
He wished Estonians “a truly independent development” and encouraged them to visit Belarus.
Estonia did not recognize Łukašenka as president after his disputed re-election in 2020s and has been consistent in its support for the Belarusian opposition, backing the EU sanctions against Minsk, advocating for visa facilitation for Belarusians and funding opposition-related projects.
