Opposition leader praises Belarusians for resisting Russia amid reports of attack on military aircraft
February 27, BPN. Belarus is standing up against Russian imperial aggression, opposition leader Sviatłana Cichanoŭskaja commented on reports of an incident at the Mačuliščy military airfield near Minsk.
“I am proud of all Belarusians who continue to resist the Russian hybrid occupation of Belarus and fight for the freedom of Ukraine,” she tweeted.
On February 26, opposition media reported that several explosions at the Mačuliščy military airfield near Minsk damaged an expensive Russian early warning and control aircraft A-50.
Later that day, Alaksandr Azaraŭ from the BYPOL association of former security forces confirmed that the members of the opposition’s Pieramoha plan carried out an attack on the Russian aircraft using two drones.
They have fled Belarus, Azaraŭ added.
Belarusian authorities have not yet officially confirmed or denied the incident.
