Łukašenka appoints Western Operational Command head

March 30, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has signed an edict to appoint Col Uładzimir Bieły as head of the Armed Forces’ Western Operational Command (ZAK), the Belarusian ruler’s press office reports.

Because of the appointment, Bieły was relieved of his duties as faculty head/deputy head of the Military Academy.

The press office reported that Maj Gen Ihar Dziemidzienka was dismissed as сommander of ZAK troops and placed at the disposal of the minister of defense.

Dziemidzienka had served in that position since March 11, 2021.

Bieły had occupied his previous office since October 17, 2022.
