Inflation up 2.6 percent in Q1

April 11, BPN. Consumer prices for goods and services rose by 0.6 percent from February’s level, and by 2.6 percent since the start of 2023, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said.

In the first quarter, food prices rose by three percent, non-food prices, by 0.9 percent and services, by 4.1 percent.

 Belstat reported an inflation of 12.8 percent in 2022.

On March 10, Alaksandr Łukašenka ordered the government to use “any means” to keep inflation within seven percent by the end of 2023.

The Eurasian Development Bank expects eight-percent inflation in Belarus this year.
