Information ministry warns Russian music television

May 4, BPN. The information ministry in Minsk has issued a formal warning to Europa Plus TV, a Belarusian branch of the Russian privately-owned station of the same name.

The popular music video channel “violated the national media law,” the ministry said in a news release, without going into detail.

Pro-government blogs criticized the channel for engaging Łarysa Hrybalova, a Belarusian pop singer who supported the 2020 protests, as a host.

Since the disputed 2020 presidential election, the Belarusian government has stepped up its attacks on media freedom, using censorship, violence, raids and trials behind closed doors.
