Łukašenka praises defense repair plant
May 7, BPN. The 140 Repair Plant retains its strong position in the global arms market, Alaksandr Łukašenka said in his congratulatory message on the 80th anniversary of the facility that upgrades main battle tanks and armored vehicles.
The plant strengthens “the defense capacity of the state,” he stressed, noting the production of tracked firefighting vehicles and repairs of tanks and diesel locomotives.
“Thousands of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and other military equipment have been given a second life,” the message says.
The 140th Repair Plant is located in Barysaŭ, Minsk region. It produces military and civilian products, repairs and upgrades armored vehicles, railway equipment and diesel engines.
The Western countries and Japan included the plant in their sanctions lists.
In March, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) ranked Belarus 20th out of 25 largest exporters of major arms and their main recipients.
