Babaryka may be in hospital outside Minsk
May 13, BPN. Viktar Babaryka is in a general hospital in Kaladzičy, a village outside the Belarusian capital, Minsk’s Detention Center No 1 has told a volunteer for the former presidential contender’s team.
Separately, the center told Babaryka’s family that he wasn’t among its inmates.
Babaryka’s hospitalization with signs of beating and a collapsed lung was reported by a worker rights group last month. His team said his whereabouts were unknown on April 28.
Last night, the Rabočy Ruch group said Babaryka was at Navapołack’s city hospital for “about a week” before being taken to a prison hospital in Minsk “around May 3.”
Before that, Babaryka was reportedly pressured by the staff of a Navapołack colony, where he was serving a 14-year sentence for corruption, a charge that he denied.
