German chancellor slams Russia’s imperialism towards Ukraine, Belarus

May 14, BPN. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that Ukraine and Belarus should become part of Russia, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said in Berlin at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The world understood perfectly well that Russia’s attack on Ukraine was part of its imperialist concept, he said.

Europe is in danger because a stronger country is attacking a weaker country and taking over its territory, Scholz added.

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Alaksandr Łukašenka admitted that Belarus participated in Russia’s war on Ukraine, but said it was “not killing anyone.”

Authorities in Minsk denied Belarusian army troops’ involvement in combat operations on the Russian side. However, Belarus allowed Russian troops and weapons to move freely through the country, use its airspace, refuel and store military equipment and attack Ukraine from its territory.
