Belarus’ disposable income slightly decreases in Q1

May 17, BPN. Real disposable income (adjusted for inflation) fell by 0.1 percent from January to March year on year, the National Statistical Committee (Belstat) reported.

Wages accounted for 64 percent of the real disposable income, income from business and other revenue-producing activities, for 8 percent; social income (pensions, benefits, scholarships, etc.), for 22.5 percent; property and other income, for 4.5 percent.

Belarusians’ real disposable income fell by 3.6 percent in 2022, although the authorities had expected it to increase by two percent. The decline occurred on the back of a 4.7 percent drop in gross domestic product, primarily caused by Western sanctions and the loss of the Ukrainian market.
