Police labels YouTube channel an extremist group

May 17, BPN. The Belarusian interior ministry has declared the Rudabelskaja Pakazucha YouTube channel an extremist group, according to a police-linked Telegram account.

The channel discredited and insulted officials and undermined Belarus’ independence and public safety, it said.

It pointed to a video in which the channel’s owner, Andrej Pavuk, called prosecutors to talk about politics. He made false statements about the political situation and slandered the head of state, the interior ministry charged.

One year ago, law enforcers searched the home of the Lithuania-based blogger and performer in Akciabrski, Homiel region.

Belarusian authorities opened a couple of criminal cases against Pavuk, accusing him of desecrating state symbols and promoting extremism.
