Supreme Court to hear reporter Poczobut’s appeal on May 26

May 23, BPN. The Supreme Court will hear the appeal by the Polish minority activist Andrzej Poczobut (Andrej Pačobut) on May 26 in a closed session, the electronic court schedule says. 

Judge Ihar Lubavicki, known for passing a lengthy sentence against former presidential hopeful Viktar Babaryka, will preside over the proceedings.

In early February, the Hrodna Regional Court sentenced the activist of the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus to eight years in prison on charges of inciting hatred and calling for sanctions. The Committee for State Security (KGB) put him on the list of “persons involved in terrorist activities.”
