Belarus-Russia military-technical deal published

May 23, BPN. The National Legal Internet Portal has published the recent Belarusian-Russian deal to cooperate on weapons until 2025.

The agreement covers the supply, repair and upgrade of various military equipment, weapons and ammunition, including planes, helicopters, air defense systems, anti-tank missiles and electronics. It also involves joint research and development activities, and some projects to use Russian weapons on Belarusian wheeled and tracked vehicles.

Among the projects are the assembly of Pantsir S1 and Sosna surface-to-air missile systems on Belarusian chassis, a joint venture for servicing Yak-130 and Su-30SM aircraft, and an assembly line for BTR-82A armored personnel carriers.

The agreement also provides for the supply of Su-30SM fighters, Mi-35M and Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters, Tor-M2 and Verba air defense systems, Ataka and Konkurs-M anti-tank missiles and other weapons to Belarus.

The agreement was signed in Minsk on September 23 and ratified by Belarus on May 12.
