Łukašenka leaves for Moscow for economic talks

May 24, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has left for Russia on a two-day visit, his press office’s unofficial Telegram channel Pul Pervogo reports.

He is expected to address participants in a plenary session of the Second Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow on May 24 and participate in the summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 25.

The leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries will discuss implementing strategic priorities of Eurasian economic integration and review EAEU international activities, message says.

Trade liberalization and industrial project financing are also in the agenda.

Earlier this week, Łukašenka announced his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 24. The meeting should “eliminate the problems that should not be in our relations at all,” he noted.

The EAEU is an international organization for regional economic integration. Its member states include Belarus and Russia, which are under international sanctions for the assault on Ukraine, as well as Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Cuba, Moldova, and Uzbekistan have observer status. Vietnam, Serbia, and Singapore have signed free trade agreements with the EAEU.
