Sofya Sapega’s defense seeks transfer of hearing to Vladivostok

May 24, BPN. The defense of Sofia Sapega, a Russian national and political prisoner in Belarus, has asked a Moscow court to move the hearing on her transfer from Belarus to Russia to Vladivostok, where she is registered.

The court adjourned their consideration of this request to June 1, the Russian news agency TASS reported.

Sapega and her boyfriend, former Belarusian opposition blogger Raman Pratasievič, were arrested in Minsk two years ago after their flight was diverted by Belarusian authorities.

Sapega was sentenced to six years in prison for inciting hatred and distributing personal data of supporters of Belarusian ruler Alaksandr Łukašenka. She did not appeal but asked for a pardon, which was denied.
