Łukašenka calls for equal access to energy in Eurasian union

May 24, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has said that efficient operation of the Eurasian Economic Union is “unthinkable without the equal access of economic entities to energy resources and infrastructure for their transportation.”

Speaking at the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow, the Belarusian ruler called for “non-discriminatory approaches to the pricing of natural monopolies’ services” in the Russian-led union.

He also stressed the importance of deeper integration in the energy sector and the EEU’s stronger position “in the context of global security,” according to his press office.

Belarus is highly dependent on energy imports from Russia, including natural gas to generate electricity and crude oil to make oil products.
