Łukašenka says precision equipment one of Belarus’ priorities in the Eurasian union

May 25, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka has said the production of precision equipment with modern microprocessors and software is one of Belarus’ priorities in the Eurasian Economic Union.

Łukašenka’s speech at the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow was streamed on YouTube yesterday.

He clarified that he was referring to the production of electro-optics, integrated circuit technology, automated controls, and robotization of the manufacturing industry.

“We are doing this with the Russian Federation,” he said.

“We have already done a lot in this area,” Łukašenka said, adding that the West has failed to undermine the allies’ efforts in recent years. “Almost everything we need flies, explodes, and so on and so forth.”

Cooperation in the EEU, he said, will make it possible to create products “with the maximum degree of localization” and launch new import-substitution projects.

In September, Belarusian Industry Minister Piotr Parchomčyk said Minsk and Moscow had signed agreements on high-tech cooperation, one of which would allow Integral, the Belarusian microelectronics factory, to design its production and investment programs in a more informed way.

Russia is in dire need of chips, as it has faced technological shortages caused by sanctions since its invasion of Ukraine. The West has stepped up the sanctions, targeting microchip supply chains to reduce Russia’s military capability.
