May 26, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has urged parents and teachers to protect students from propaganda.
“Parents can keep their children away from ideology classes, trips and activities, especially on weekends,” she wrote in her Telegram channel. She also suggested that teachers refuse to participate in such activities or tacitly sabotage them.
“Our children should study in a school free of propaganda,” the politician stressed. “We want our children to study in the best universities in Belarus and Europe, rather than go to military school. We have the power to resist it because only we can determine the fate of our children.”
If parents fail to intervene in time, their children will be turned into future propaganda workers and security officers, Cichanoŭskaja warned.
The school curriculum ignores certain aspects of Belarusian history, such as Joseph Stalin’s Great Terror, while patriotism has been replaced with Łukašenka-centered ideas, she noted.
