Poland mulls halting Belarusian, Russian trucks at border

May 26, BPN. The Polish interior ministry has asked the government to suspend cargo traffic for trucks registered in Belarus and Russia at its border crossings, according to draft amendments published today.

The move aims to ensure public safety amid tensions with Belarus over its treatment of the Polish minority.

Belarus has imposed restrictions on Polish vehicles since February, after Poland closed one of its checkpoints until further notice.

The EU has also banned Belarusian carriers from transporting cargoes through its territory since April 2022, as part of sanctions against Russia and Belarus for the war against Ukraine.
