Ukraine slaps sanctions on 20 Belarusian companies

May 27, BPN. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved the national security council’s decision to impose sanctions on 20 Belarusian companies linked to the defense industry.

This comes amid Belarus’ support of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The sanctions include an asset freeze, a ban on technology transfer, and restrictions on or termination of trade operations. These companies won’t be able to transit goods through Ukraine, export capital, or participate in privatization. The sanctions will be in effect for 10 years.

Officials in Kyiv made a similar decision regarding 18 Belarusian companies and a grassroots trade union cell two weeks ago.
