Opposition’s defense chief says documents stolen during trip to Czechia

May 29, BPN. Valer Sachaščyk, defense secretary in the “cabinet” of exiled opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja, says two bags of documents were stolen from his car in the Czech Republic, were he met “with a number of European defense politicians” last week.

“Analysis of the incident carried out by Czech specialists on the scene indicates that it was done by secret services,” Sachaščyk wrote on Telegram, adding that the Belarusian Committee for State Security (KGB) made a mistake, since there wasn’t anything particularly useful in those bags.

In September, Naša Niva wrote that Sachaščyk might have been poisoned, but a spokesperson for Cichanoŭskaja only confirmed that he was being treated for unspecified health issues.
