Belarus opposition reports Łukašenka’s alleged war crimes to Ukraine

May 30, BPN. A Belarusian opposition politician says he has visited Kyiv and presented the office of the prosecutor general with evidence that Alaksandr Łukašenka’s government committed war crimes, such as the illegal transfer of children from Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine to Belarus.

Pavieł Łatuška said on Telegram that he shared 12 files on the transfer of Ukrainian orphans with the prosecutors. Łukašenka organized their transfer under the aegis of the Union State, which funded the displacement, Łatuška charged.

Belaruskali, Belarus’ state-owned potash miner, and its CEO Ivan Hałavaty were also involved, he added.

The evidence will also be sent to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, according to Łatuška, an ally of Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s fact finders recognized the displacement of Ukrainian children as a war crime.

The Ukrainian prosecutors have told Reuters that Ukraine is investigating the alleged role of Belarus in the forced transfer.
