Belarus holding Iskander-M missile drill

May 30, BPN. The Belarusian defense ministry has said it is holding a drill on missile strike management involving missile units equipped with the Iskander-M system, a Russian-made weapon that can carry nuclear warheads and has a range of up to 500 kilometers.

Missile troops will practice carrying out combat operations and preparing missile strikes, the defense ministry said.

Belarus received the Iskander-M system from Russia last year and its servicemen completed training on how to operate and maintain it, including its nuclear capabilities.

The Iskander is a family of surface-to-air missiles designed to destroy enemy air defenses, command centers, aircraft, troops and equipment. It can fire both cruise and quasi-ballistic missiles.
