Ukrainian lawmaker: Belarus’ involvement in deportation of children evident

May 31, BPN. The Ukrainian parliament’s human rights commissioner said that Kyiv has evidence of Belarusian authorities’ involvement in forcible transfers of Ukrainian children and prisoners of war through their country.

Dmytro Lubineć described the kids as “civilian hostages,” according to Ukrinform.

On March 17, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Vladimir Putin and his children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, accusing them of deporting children from Ukraine.

A Belarusian opposition politician said yesterday that he had visited Kyiv and presented the office of the prosecutor general with evidence that Alaksandr Łukašenka’s government committed war crimes, such as the illegal transfer of children from Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine to Belarus.

Pavieł Łatuška said he had shared 12 files on the transfer of Ukrainian orphans with the prosecutors. Łukašenka organized their transfer under the aegis of the Union State, which funded the displacement, Łatuška charged.
