Łukašenka claims Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine preparing coup in Belarus

June 1, BPN. Poland, Lithuania, and “unfortunately, Ukraine” are plotting to overthrow the Belarusian government, Alaksandr Łukašenka has told security officials from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) at their meeting in Minsk.

The three neighboring countries are training “members of illegal armed groups” and trying to create “dormant extremist cells” in Belarus, he said.

“The recent facts prove it,” Pul Pervogo, an unofficial Telegram channel of his press office cited him as saying. “We are aware of it and we will not allow it.”

The war in Ukraine started long before 2014 and was caused by a Nazi coup, he added without elaborating further.

“We saw who led Ukraine to it,” Łukašenka said echoing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claim that Russia “did not start this war.”
