Połack university instructor of sports freed after two weeks in jail

June 5, BPN. Siarhiej Rykun, a physical education instructor at Połack State University (PSU), has been freed after 13 days in custody. It is unclear what charges he faced.

Earlier today, authorities released Siarhiej Hłazyryn, an associate professor of law and public administration at PSU, after he had served 15 days in jail.

Reports suggest that reprisals in the Połack area intensified this spring and targeted Połack’s history and culture museum, Navapołack’s Central City Hospital, academics, and a Greek Catholic priest. Over dozen university staff were arrested in late May.
