Belarus boosts defense with Russian missile system

June 6, BPN. The Belarusian defense minister has said that the S-400 missile system will protect the frontier of the Belarusian-Russian bloc.

In a video released today, Viktar Chrenin commented on Belarusian soldiers putting the new system on combat duty.

Chrenin said the army was adopting the most advanced types of weapons and equipment to prevent a “military conflict against our country.” He pointed out the West’s “belligerent rhetoric” and an increase in the offensive capabilities of Poland and the Baltic countries.

The defense ministry announced last week that Russian troops were arriving in Belarus as part of “scheduled rotation” of the regional group of forces.

The troops include “personnel, weapons and equipment from combined arms and tank formations,” it said, adding that “another S-400 anti-aircraft missile system” was delivered from Russia.
