Prime ministers sign CIS free trade agreement for services, investments
June 8, BPN. The prime ministers of seven former Soviet republics have signed a free trade agreement for services and investments.
The Belarusian Ministry of Economy described the deal as a breakthrough, noting that an attachment to it specifies countries’ commitments and exemptions.
The deals will facilitate the establishment and operation of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) companies in various sectors, including services, manufacturing and agriculture.
It is expected boost trade in services by 25
percent and mutual investment by 30 percent in the long term. It has been
signed by the prime ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan.
