Opposition’s transition cabinet launches ByPol probe

June 9, BPN. Following reports of dissent at ByPol, the opposition’s transition cabinet has announced that it will investigate the resistance group formed of exiled Belarusian former security officers.

Given the nature of ByPol’s activities, the cabinet and its head Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja advised all parties to refrain from making comments “until decisions are made based on the fullest possible information.”

The cabinet promised to ensure safe storage of all information obtained by the group, it stressed.

On June 8, ByPol chief Alaksandr Azaraŭ said that a ByPol spokesman and several other members defected after refusing to take a lie detector test.
