Lithuania says to keep gathering evidence of Łukašenka’s and Putin’s crimes

June 12, BPN. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has told an international conference in Vilnius that her government will continue to collect evidence of the Russian and Belarusian regimes’ crimes “so that justice will prevail.”

Šimonytė cited the forced landing of an EU airliner in Minsk, the migrant crisis at the Belarus-EU border and the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children as examples of Minsk’s wrongdoings.

She stressed that Lithuania was the first EU member state that demanded that the International Criminal Court investigate Minsk’s and Moscow’s alleged war crimes.

She added that Lithuania was also planning to hold the Łukašenka regime accountable for trafficking in migrants and to take the issue to the United Nations’ International Court of Justice.

Lithuania is one of the most vocal critics of the Belarusian government in the EU, and has supported the Belarusian opposition and civil society.
