Kalinoŭski regiment calls on Łukašenka’s troops not to invade Ukraine if ordered

June 19, BPN. A Belarusian volunteer unit fighting Russia has called on Alaksandr Łukašenka’s military not to implement an “illegal order” to invade Ukraine, arguing that his dictatorship has no future.

The address was played through loud speakers at all Ukrainian-Belarusian border crossings, the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment said on social media today.

In the address, it claimed that Russia lost 200,000 people dead during its invasion of Ukraine.

It said that its own fighters had more than a year of combat experience, asking Łukašenka’s troops: “Can you match it?”

It also pledged that anyone involved in reprisals against Belarusians will be punished.

Belarusian volunteers formed the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment in March 2022, initially as a battalion. Its stated mission is to liberate Belarus by defending Ukraine.

Belarusian investigators opened criminal cases against fighters associated with the regiment.
