June 28, BPN. The Belarusian Council of Ministers has extended the ban on the import of certain types of agricultural and food products from Western countries until the end of 2023.

The ban applies to apples, except for imports in July. The government added beer and soft drinks from Lithuania and Poland, citing sufficient production of similar products in Belarus.

On January 1, 2022, Belarus imposed a six-month embargo on a number of imported goods in response to sanctions by Western countries. It banned food imports from the EU, the US, Albania, the UK, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Norway, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Switzerland. The ban has been extended several times since 2022.
