Resistance group ByPol renamed BelPol after public spat

July 5, BPN. Members of the exiled resistance organization ByPol have renamed it BelPol after expelling former police officers Alaksandr Azaraŭ and Stanisłaŭ Łupanosaŭ.

“We terminate any cooperation with these persons and their BYPOL Foundation,” they said in a statement today.

They described the rebranding as “technical,” saying that their goals remain unchanged.

The foundation will retain the ByPol name and will be in charge of the Pieramoha plan to oust Alaksandr Łukašenka, according to the statement.

Quarrels in the organization became public in early June. Azaraŭ accused other members of refusing to take a polygraph test and of taking over ByPol’s social media accounts, while his critics have grown increasingly disgruntled with his leadership, blaming him for alleged “destructive activity” and security breaches.

After an intervention by the cabinet of opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja the organization split into two groups.
