Belarus is a Russian province, says Lithuanian leader
July 11, BPN. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has described Belarus as a province of Russia, calling for a quicker response to developments in the country.
Speaking ahead of a NATO summit in Vilnius, he said he had told US President Joe Biden that Belarus is becoming a “real problem” and is no longer independent.
Russian troops use its territory for attacks on Ukraine and are deploying nuclear weapons there, he said.
He added that the Belarusian authorities channel illegal migrants to put pressure on the European border.
According to Nausėda, the regional security situation is deteriorating.
