Belarusians’ real estate purchases in Lithuania soar in H1 2023

July 26, BPN. From January to June, Belarusian nationals bought 118 apartments, 17 houses and 34 plots of land in Lithuania, Delfi reported citing the Lithuanian registry records.

Real estate purchases by Belarusians rose by 39 percent year on year, it noted. Most real estate purchases were recorded in Vilnius and its surroundings as well as in the Šalčininkai district with growing communities of Belarusians.

Lithuania is a top destination for Belarusians who flee politically-motivated persecution at home. In April, Lithuanian migration authorities said they issued over 55,000 residence permits to Belarusian nationals.

In 2022, Belarusians purchased a total of 185 apartments, 29 houses and 89 plots of land in Lithuania.
