Officers study minelaying during training camp in western Belarus

July 27, BPN. Senior staff of the Western Operational Command (WOC) focused on overcoming and planting minefields during a training camp in Hoža, near the border with Poland and Lithuania, VoyenTV reports.

The officers also studied “effective algorithms of interaction between motorized units and artillery, unmanned aircraft and engineering troops,” the Belarusian defense ministry’s channel has said.

Instructors tried to share the knowledge gained from an analysis of the war in Ukraine, as well as the Belarusian experience, according to Uładzimir Bieły, commander of the WOC troops.

In addition to these exercises, Belarus was also hosting fighters from the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary army that was involved in conflicts in Ukraine, Syria and Libya. They trained Belarusian soldiers near Asipovičy in the Mahiloŭ region.

More drills with Russia are expected later this year.
