Cooperation with China “top priority” – defense minister
July 28, BPN. The Belarusian defense minister has said cooperation with China and its military is a “top priority” of Belarus’ foreign policy.
Viktar Chrenin was speaking at a reception in Minsk marking the 96th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army, according to the ministry’s press office.
He praised the Chinese army as a “guarantor of peace and prosperity” and an overcomer of difficulties. He pointed out reforms in the army, such as the introduction of digital technologies and the development of new weapons.
Officials in Minsk often refer to China as one of their most important partners. Alaksandar Łukašenka visited it for talks with its leader Xi Jinping from February 28 to March 2. Łukašenka’s youngest son Mikałaj is said to study in Beijing.
