Mother of Cichanoŭskaja’s aide arrested

November 30, Pozirk. Law enforcers have arrested Inesa Vorychava, the mother of Marharyta Vorychava, Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja’s adviser on youth policy and student affairs, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
OMON (Special Police Unit) came to her workplace in Navapołack, Viciebsk region, this morning. It is unclear what she is suspected of.
On November 9, the daughter received the Young Woman of Europe award in Brussels.
Cichanoŭskaja’s press office said the award is one of four annual Women of Europe prizes honoring the promotion of European values. Marharyta dedicated it to all young leaders of Belarus, noting their “decisive role in shaping the future and defending democracy.”
She also announced that she will join the Council of Europe’s advisory board on youth in January.
Cichanoŭskaja appointed Marharyta as her adviser on August 6, 2023.
