Opposition leaders discuss liberation strategy at conference in Kyiv

December 1, Pozirk. More than 100 Belarusian activists and volunteers gathered in Kyiv on November 29 and 30 for “the Path to Freedom” conference to discuss a strategy of the Belarusian national liberation movement.
Organized by the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, a Belarusian volunteer unit fighting alongside with Ukrainian forces, the conference focused on Belarusian-Ukrainian relations and the long-term plans of the Belarusian opposition. Participants agreed on the need to rally all pro-democracy forces.
Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja addressed the participants via video link. Other speakers included Ivonka Surviła, chairwoman of the exiled Rada of the Belarusian National Republic and Ukrainian MPs from the For a Democratic Belarus parliamentary group.
Politicians Zianon Paźniak, Pavieł Usaŭ, Dźmitryj Ščyhielski, Andrej Jahoraŭ and Vadzim Kabančuk and Julijana Šametaviec of the Cyberpartisans hacktivist group participated in the panel discussions.
On October 30, working groups held discussions without reporters being present.
