January 22, Pozirk. A bill allowing multiple citizenship has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced in his Day of Unity address.

Ethnic Ukrainians from any country, except Russia, as well as foreign volunteers “who took up arms to defend Ukraine,” will be able to become Ukrainian citizens, he said.

The Rada’s website does not yet list the bill.

As of July 2023, about 450 Belarusian volunteers reportedly fought alongside Ukrainian troops, most being members of the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment.

Belarusians are also defending Ukraine as fighters of the Belarusian Volunteer Corps, the 2nd International Legion, the 79th Ukrainian Detached Air Assault Brigade and other units.
