Belarus pulls out from agreement with Ukraine on mutual recognition of diplomas, degrees
October 18, Pozirk. The Belarusian government has terminated an agreement with Ukraine regulating the recognition of education diplomas and academic degrees, says Directive No 689 published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
The foreign ministry has been instructed to notify Kyiv of the decision.
The agreement, signed in 1998, regulated mutual recognition of secondary and vocational education diplomas granting their holders rights to continue education in both countries. It also gave equal rights to graduates of Belarusian and Ukrainian universities as well as academic degree holders.
In October 2022, Belarus terminated a similar agreement with Poland.
Ukraine withdrew from this agreement in April 2022. Earlier Minsk and Kyiv announced the termination of search and rescue, border protection and information protection agreements.
Relations between the two countries have deteriorated after Minsk allowed Russian forces to march into Ukraine from Belarusian territory in February 2022.
