Belarus, Uzbekistan count on stronger economic ties

During negotiations in Uzbekistan, Łukašenka said the current trade figures – almost $600 million – are a record but “do not match the existing potential.” “In the next year and a half, we should reach one billion and look forward,” the Belarusian ruler said, according to his press office.

It is important to increase trade and its range by involving products with high added value, creating conditions for the transit of foreign goods, and developing cooperation between the countries’ businesses and regions, the two leaders said in the statement.

Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to create favorable conditions for “the active development of mechanisms supporting export-import operations.” They also prioritize cooperation in agriculture and food security.
