Radyjo Unet suspends broadcasts amid funding uncertainty
March 14, Pozirk. Radyjo Unet, the Belarusian service of the Polish Wnet radio station, has announced suspension of its broadcasts.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet approved funding for the Belarusian service, its journalists said in a statement.
The team thanked the audience and broadcast participants. “We believe in the best and we’ll hear from you again!” the journalists said.
Journalists who fled Belarus fearing politically-motivated persecution established the Belarusian service in November 2020.
Belarusian broadcasts were aired every weekday morning and evening, informing exiled Belarusians of news in their home country.
In the last few months, several exiled Belarusian media outlets sounded alarm over insufficient funding, appealing to their audiences for support.
