Poland restricts export of cars over 1.9 liters – Belarus’ customs committee

March 25, Pozirk. Poland has restricted exports of European cars with engine capacity exceeding 1.9 liters to Belarus and Russia, the Belarusian Customs Committee has announced, citing online media outlets.
Polish border guards do not allow vehicles with these characteristics to cross the border and are reportedly turning away cars whose owners cannot prove that they are in transit, the committee said, noting that restrictions may remain in force until April 1.
Reports circulating online since March 22 said that Polish customs officers did not clear cars with certain engine capacity for entry into Belarus. Drivers also complained about long queues at the border.
Poland has not formally announced any restrictions.
In February 2023, Poland closed a key crossing at the shared border, Bobrowniki, after Belarus had sentenced journalist and Polish minority activist Andrej Pačobut (Andrzej Poczobut) to eight years in prison.
Currently, all passenger traffic is processed at the Terespol border crossing.
