Opposition launching free legal help service on April 5

April 4, Pozirk. Belarusian pro-democracy forces have announced the launch of free anonymous legal consultations starting April 5 as part of the one-stop-shop service providing social support for victims of politically-motivated persecution in Belarus since late October 2023.

Belarusians, who may fear seeking legal advice in Belarus because of the high risks of reprisals, may ask for consultations on civil, family, administrative and criminal law, the press release noted.

The hotline set up in collaboration with the Belarusian Association of Human Rights Lawyers in Lithuania will offer free legal consultations several times a month. Operators will not record or store encrypted calls to prevent third parties from wiretapping or intercepting the data.
