Belarus-Venezuela relations get boost with aviation talks

April 5, Pozirk. Belarus-Venezuela relations get a boost as Alaksandar Łukašenka has approved a draft intergovernmental agreement for air travel negotiations with the South American country.
Belarus’ national airline Biełavija was banned from sending aircraft to the EU after Minsk had forced a European passenger plane to land to arrest an opposition blogger and his girlfriend in 2021.
According to the transport ministry, in 2023 Biełavija had regular flights to 20 airports in 10 countries, including Russia and India.
Belarusian-Venezuelan relations continue to evolve as the two countries share economic and political interests.
In November, Łukašenka ordered officials to “review all projects” with Caracas, adding new areas of cooperation, if necessary.
In February 2024, Belarus’ department of aviation announced preparations for “the signing of international air services agreements with Venezuela, Kenya and the Seychelles.”
