USA slaps new sanctions on Belarus

June 12, Pozirk. The United States has imposed sanctions on more than 300 companies and their executives in different countries for supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine, the US Department of State has announced.

Most of the targeted entities are companies or individuals based in Russia. The restrictions also affected individuals and entities in Belarus, China, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.

The United States blacklisted the Minsk-based plant SVT and its CEO Valancin Mikłaševič. The company manufactures high-precision measuring devices, including automotive electronics.

Mahiloŭ’s Technalit and its head Alaksandar Badziaka, Žodzina’s Baztube (Alena Pierasialak), Babrujsk’s Biełaruśhumtechnika (Rus: Belarusreinotekhnika) were sanctioned for cooperating with Russia’s 81 Armored Fighting Vehicles Repair Plant (81 BTRZ).

According to the US Department of the Treasury, in addition to these companies, the sanctions package included Minsk’s Kvand IS, a company designing combat and surveillance drones.

The United States last sanctioned Belarusians on April 15.

On April 20, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT), a manufacturer of missile transporter erector launcher vehicles already under US sanctions, was added to the blacklist related to Pakistan’s missile program.
