Belarus, China to hold military exercise near Polish border

July 7, Pozirk. The Belarusian and Chinese armed forces will hold a joint exercise near Brest, Xinhua reported citing China’s defense ministry.
The maneuvers will be held as part of an annual plan agreed between China and Belarus, it said.
Soldiers from the two countries will practice rescuing hostages and conducting anti-terrorist operations, it added.
The aim is to raise the level of units’ training and coordination and deepen practical cooperation between the armed forces, China’s news agency reported.
Brest is located at the Polish border and close to war-torn Ukraine.
The arrival of a Chinese contingent for training was reported yesterday. The maneuvers will be held on July 8-19.
