Biełstat: industrial inventories up 0.5 percent year on year
July 16, Pozirk. The stockpiles of unsold industrial goods increased by 0.5 percent year on year to 8.76 billion rubels ($2.68 billion) on July 1, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee (Biełstat) reported.
In the first six months of 2024, the inventories accounted for 64 percent of the average monthly output.
In April, Alaksandar Łukašenka expressed concern about the build-up.
“Warehouses are bursting. In 2023, inventories increased by 23 percent,” he said.
“The responsible deputy prime minister is reassuring me: it’s ok and it is always like that, we are going to sell everything. But we measure these stockpiles period to period. And how much equipment is stored at dealerships, which for many have become additional overseas warehouses?”
Industrial inventories decreased by 2.2 percent between January 1 and July 1, 2024.
